About Us
Monica answered the call of God to birth a ministry and therefore, Harvest Time
Ministries was born in Williams Lake in 1998. In 2000 it was relocated to Louis Creek.
When the ministry went to incorporate, another ministry had the same name so Harvest
Time Ministries Int'l became Bridge of Hope Ministries Int.
Monica has been on three mission trips to Suriname, South America. During one of the
trips she stayed for 3 months. Monica came back more determined to help!
Bridge Of Hope now is registered in the Philippines with many churches, a Bible School,
Orphanage, Feeding Program and Children's Ministry. Bonifar and Lilian Abanel are
President and Vice-President and direct the ministry there under BOHMI here in Canada.
In the Philippines
- We help support 21 Bible Students. We send them curriculum for their studies and
help with food costs.
- We put a down payment on a piece of land for a farm. We have had it cleared and
planted with corn and vegetables.
- A goat shelter is in the process of being built as we send funding.
- We are in the process of filling a container of much needed items to ship them.
The ground work has been done to register the Bridge of Hope in Zambia, Africa. The
ministry will be directed by Berry & Alice Kafololo. When the ministry in the Philippines
is self sufficient we will then duplicate what we have done in the Philippines in Africa.
The ministry has a Depot called Faith In Action. Clothes, toys, shoes, hygiene, School,
medical and sewing supplies, and other donated items are picked up, sorted, baled,
labeled, packaged and put into containers to go to third world countries. Items are also
sent up to Northern Canada and our own local area.
Some things we have done in our 5 years of operation:
- We gave the following in Suriname, approx. $10,000 to help build an orphanage. We
built a 16'x20' kitchen in the jungle for a jungle ministry. We gave tools to Eagle Wings
Ministry; we gave many clothes, toys, and hygiene products - all we took in suitcases on our
trips. We gave an electric guitar and amplifier to a pastor. We had many dresses made
for orphan girls. We financially helped another orphanage.
- Collected, sorted and packaged items for other ministries to send to third world
countries.
- We knitted and crocheted blankets for children with MS in an orphanage and for street
kids in Columbia, South America.
- We met personally with David Mainse from 100 Huntley Street he arranged to give us a
container of high end hospital equipment for Suriname. We released it to go to Columbia,
South America.
- We gave 30 brand new winter jackets for the McClure, BC fire victims.
- We collected, sorted baled and packaged many different items for an HIV/AIDS orphanage
in Kenya, Africa in February 2005 and did the same for Suriname, South America in August
2005
- We collected and packaged items for the victims of Katrina and shipped the goods to
them pre-paid.
- We helped with the containers for Ghana by lending our baler to help with that project.
- We have just sent a 46' tractor trailer to Abbotsford of which the contents will be
shipped to Romania.
We have leased a building in Chase, BC (our hearts desire is to purchase the building).
We have moved our Depot to the downstairs of the building and put a Thrift Shop and a
coffee shop upstairs with space for a small internet café. We will also soon open a
Christian bookstore in the same building.
